Kurzbeschreibung

Korean classes for all

Beschreibung

The session begins with a storytelling-based language experience centered on kimchi, Korea’s most iconic food.

Rather than focusing on a cooking demonstration, the process of making kimchi is introduced through picture books, visual storytelling, and narrative flow. As participants follow the sequence of preparation, they naturally encounter everyday Korean expressions such as:
• “to cut,” “to mix,” “to add,” “to wait,” “to taste”
• “spicy,” “warm,” “to eat together”

Without formal grammar instruction, participants intuitively understand Korean sentence structure through context, repetition, and meaning.

The session also includes a creative example of a kimchi-inspired pasta dish, demonstrating how Korean food culture is living, flexible, and open to global reinterpretation.

The Most Important Part: Children as Creators

At the heart of this presentation are the young authors themselves.

Three young authors — Yongjoon Kwon, Sooin Yu, and Yein Choi — will share personal stories inspired by tteokbokki, bibimbap, and tteok.

They do not present recipes.
They present:
• Why they chose their topic
• What story they wanted to tell
• What Korean words and expressions they discovered
• How their thinking evolved through writing

Their books reflect themes of family, sharing, patience, and everyday life — values deeply embedded in Korean culture.

The books are introduced in order of Korean language level, allowing visitors to see how vocabulary and sentence structures gradually expand. Through this structure, the audience can clearly understand how children’s books function as step-by-step tools for Korean language learning.

In this session, children are not passive learners.
They are creators, presenters, and communicators of language.

For children, this experience builds confidence in the idea that
“My story can become a language.”

For adults, it offers a powerful reminder that language learning becomes meaningful when rooted in culture and personal expression.

Why This Matters

In an AI-driven world overflowing with information, books remain essential. They help us slow down, organize our thoughts, and deepen understanding.

This seminar will be meaningful for Korean language learners worldwide, foreign residents in Korea, educators, and families seeking new approaches to language education.
