There are now many books on mediation. Most describe what the mediator should do in mediation. For example, “building trust” or “asking about interests.”
However, there are only a few books that describe how mediators build trust and what questions they can ask in order to actually get to the heart of the parties' interests.
This book is probably the only one that conveys this knowledge in a storytelling format:
Food wholesaler Wenzel Wenger from Constance fails miserably in a case he is trying to resolve in court. At an event organized by the local Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he learns about the mediation process. He now hopes to be able to pursue his interests in another case that threatens his entire economic existence by means of mediation. As a reader, you can now follow Wenzel Wenger and the mediator chosen by the disputing parties mediator chosen by the disputing parties, Dr. Austin Cooper (known from the book Cooperation Instead of Confrontation by the two authors), to Ibiza, where Cooper resolves the conflict "quickly, efficiently and cost-effectively." Every evening, his assistant, Dr. Harald Gutknecht, explains to those interested exactly how Cooper proceeded during the day. There is much to learn!
