Alfie Atkins
Alfie is an ordinary boy who lives with his father in a modern suburb anywhere in the world.
He is not big. And not so strong. And he prefers not to fight either! He is happy and mischievous but can also get angry, jealous and afraid of ghosts, just like everyone else.
The books about Alfie were written and illustrated by Gunilla Bergström (1942–2021).
She was one of the first picture-book authors to use collage techniques in her illustrations, incorporating everyday objects to bring the stories closer to children’s own reality.
Gunilla Bergström published more than 40 children’s books, and the stories about Alfie are today timeless classics.
