About us
Gertjan van Mook is a Dutch photographer based in Berlin. He was trained at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam as a photographer and filmmaker. He grew up among truck drivers hauling sand and bricks across rough terrain. Roads, engines, and being on the road became part of his language, later shaping his work as an artist.
His work has been shown across Europe and beyond — raw, unpolished, and always on edge. At some point, Mook launched The Man With The Pan® — a spice brand pushing back against Big Food’s erasure of local cuisines. It placed him inside the machinery of global industry and consumer culture — a frontline that keeps bleeding into his work.
Mook’s work is more than travel or photography. It is culture critique and vitalist rebellion — confronting decay, power, and the illusions of progress. His voice moves through the wreckage of modern Europe — sharp, restless, and alive.
