About us
The Arbeitskreis für Jugendliteratur e.V. (Association for Youth Literature) was founded in 1955 as an umbrella organization for children's and youth literature in Germany. Its tasks include organizing and awarding the German Youth Literature Prize, promoting authors and translators, and holding seminars and events on various topics related to the promotion of reading. Well-founded and independent, the association's own journal Julit covers current topics and developments in children's and youth literature. Internationally, the AKJ is the German section of the world organization IBBY, the International Board on Books for Young People.
